Paintings
Primarily paintings of chalk downland and granite coastline, Baroque and Blues music. The predominantly white field best carries the chosen colours of line rather than mass with spaces integral to creating the whole image. The feeling of movement is conveyed not just by the shapes in landscape or the journey of musical notes but in the very act of the artist painting the image.
Many of these paintings are of Wolstonbury Hill, a prominent feature of England’s South Downs, from the suite ‘Wolstonbury – Wounded Queen’. Viewed from all directions including above, and despite the vicissitudes of man, she (Wolstonbury) maintains her dignity and sinuous beauty. Other paintings are of the south west of Guernsey, from the ‘High Parishes’ suite. Others still are responses to specific works of music.
